Xbox Elite Series 3 Controller Details Emerge in Design Lab Leak

Further details regarding the unannounced Xbox Elite Series 3 controller have surfaced from Microsoft's own Design Lab website. Leaked information points to significant upgrades, including advanced analogue stick technology and enhanced haptic feedback.

The datamined details, which appeared on Reddit, suggest the Elite Series 3 will incorporate Hall Effect and TMR (Tunnel Magnetoresistance) analogue sticks. Unlike traditional sticks that rely on physical contact, these magnetic variants are designed to prevent wear and mitigate issues like stick drift. The information implies users may be able to choose between Hall Effect and TMR sticks, although the default configuration remains unclear.

The controller also appears to feature "advanced haptics," a feature reminiscent of the PlayStation 5's DualSense controller. This would complement the return of impulse triggers, which offer their own haptic feedback and multi-stage press capabilities.

Additional leaked specifications include a dedicated "audio scroll wheel," customizable and replaceable faceplates, and multiple d-pad options. Microsoft is reportedly planning to offer two primary versions of the Elite Series 3: a 'Base' model and a 'Complete' model, with both versions potentially offering the option of a haptics motor, leading to a total of four product configurations.

The Elite series represents Xbox's premium controller line, targeting core and competitive gamers. The Elite Series 2 Core was released in 2022, followed by the more feature-rich Elite Series 2. Given the nature and detail of this leak, an official announcement for the Elite Series 3 may be imminent.
