A Blockbuster Showcase

The showcase opened with a significant reveal for "Gears of War: E-Day," a prequel detailing the origins of the Locust War. The game is set to launch on October 6, with a dedicated "E-Day Direct" presentation following the main showcase to offer a deeper look. This title revisits the early days of Marcus Fenix and his comrades during the initial outbreak of the Locust threat.

Several other highly anticipated titles received updated release information. Team Ninja's "Wo Long 2" is scheduled for early 2027, continuing the studio's trend of demon-slaying action games in alternate East Asian histories.

Ninja Theory's "Senua" will arrive in 2027, continuing the story of the tragic Celtic warrior. Bethesda revealed new content for "Doom: The Dark Ages - Revelations," a story DLC for "Doom Eternal" launching July 7, which will feature a colder, icy hellscape. The showcase concluded with a gameplay demo for "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's" DMZ mode, which is also slated for an October release.

Exclusivity Under Review

Xbox leadership addressed the platform's approach to exclusivity. While previous statements suggested a move away from Microsoft-exclusive titles, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma indicated a potential shift back towards platform-defining exclusive content. Sharma stated that "in order to be a platform, you must have exclusive content and services. And so, we're looking at that very closely."
