Microsoft is rolling out a significantly revamped Xbox PC app to members of the Xbox Insiders program, aiming to address long-standing performance and usability concerns. The company claims the updated application boots up 60% faster, with several in-app pages loading up to 50% quicker and internal windows opening up to 65% faster.

These improvements are designed to make navigating and accessing games on the PC platform a more seamless experience. According to Xbox Wire, the update includes "simpler navigation, updated filters, and new ways to organise your games," along with social features integrated into the main navigation menu for faster access to friends and chat.

While acknowledging the update as a "meaningful improvement," Xbox CEO Asha Sharma noted in a social media post that there is "plenty more to do" to match the functionality of competing platforms like Steam. The enhanced search capabilities, refreshed game cards, and new light and dark modes are intended to provide a cleaner user interface and make it easier for players to find what they are looking for.

The update also extends to cloud gaming, with an improved setup rolling out to more users via web browsers. Supported smart TVs and VR headsets will also receive the updated cloud experience. Microsoft recently began bringing a selection of classic Xbox games to PC, including titles like Blinx: The Time Sweeper and Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, and introduced Mythic Achievements, the PC equivalent of PlayStation's Trophies, for all Xbox players.
