Xbox players will experience a unique cosmetic in the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, receiving an exclusive gun skin that is not visible to players on other platforms. Activision announced that the "Inner Circuit" M4 blueprint, offered as a digital pre-order bonus, will feature a distinct translucent green design for Xbox users. This special appearance celebrates the Xbox console's 25th anniversary and is inspired by the original Xbox design, complete with branding on the magazine.
However, the visual treatment of this weapon blueprint is platform-dependent. While Xbox players will see the translucent green version, those playing on PlayStation 5 and Windows PC will instead view a more traditional, mil-spec appearance. Crucially, the Xbox-exclusive design is not visible to players on other platforms. If an Xbox player uses the "Inner Circuit" M4, other players will only see the standard version of the weapon.
Activision has confirmed that despite the visual differences, both versions of the "Inner Circuit" M4 blueprint share identical stats and gameplay characteristics, ensuring no competitive advantage is gained. The blueprint is equipped with a 11.5" Shortline Barrel for improved handling and mobility, a FTAC Dominion Muzzle for reduced recoil, an FSS Fireline Grip to steady firing, a SZ Prima-4 Dot Optic for a clear sight picture, and a ZLR ASP50 Stock designed to reduce weight and improve movement speed. The overall build is focused on accuracy, handling, and mobility, making it suitable for close- and mid-range engagements, and potentially as a mobile secondary weapon alongside a sniper loadout.
While console-exclusive bonuses in Call of Duty are not unprecedented, the decision to create a cosmetic item that is only visible to players on a specific platform marks a novel approach to in-game exclusives. Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled to launch on October 23 on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
