Xbox Rolls Out Mythic Achievements to Insiders

Xbox is beginning the rollout of its new Mythic Achievements system to Xbox Insiders, a feature designed to recognize players who have unlocked all original achievements for a given game. This milestone system functions similarly to PlayStation's Platinum Trophies, requiring the completion of all base game achievements to earn.

Achievements added post-launch through DLC or updates will not count toward achieving Mythic status. Once earned, Mythic Achievements are permanent. The system will also apply retroactively, meaning players who have already completed all original achievements in past games will be notified with a brief celebratory animation.

Upon the full release of the Mythic Achievement system to the wider Xbox community, player profiles will gain a new Gaming tab. This section will allow players to view their achievements, track progress toward Gamerscore milestones, and revisit games they have completed. To aid players in tracking their progress toward Mythic status, a new progress bar will be displayed at the top of each game's achievement list. Achievements added later will be marked with an "add-on" tag to differentiate them from the original set.

There is currently no release date for when Mythic Achievements will move beyond the Xbox Insiders program to all Xbox users. The feature was initially teased by Xbox CEO Asha Sharma in August. Its arrival comes amid recent layoffs within Microsoft's gaming division, which have affected various Xbox departments and led to consolidation under Activision and Bethesda. The Xbox Game Studios portfolio has also seen reductions, with the future of studios like Ninja Theory uncertain and Undead Labs undergoing downsizing as it transitions to a new owner.
