Microsoft has officially confirmed substantial price increases for Xbox consoles in the UK and Europe. These adjustments, which have already been implemented, see prices rise significantly, with some models becoming up to 50 percent more expensive than they were previously.

The 1TB Xbox Series X disc console has seen the largest jump, increasing from £500 to £670, marking a 34 percent rise. The more affordable Xbox Series S is also affected; the 512GB version is now priced at £429.99, up from £299.99, a 43 percent increase. Its 1TB counterpart has also seen a substantial hike, rising from £350 to £519.99, an increase of approximately 48.5 percent.

These new prices reflect broader global adjustments, with the US also experiencing price hikes of around $100-$150 on various Xbox models. In Europe, the Xbox Series S (512GB) now costs €499.99, up from €349.99, while the Xbox Series X (1TB, Disc) is priced at €799.99, an increase from €599.99.

These price changes come at a challenging time for Microsoft's gaming division. The company recently reported a 10 percent drop in revenue for its content and services segment in the last financial quarter. This follows a period of significant restructuring, including the layoff of 3,200 employees across the Xbox gaming division, with immediate cuts impacting 1,600 staff and affecting studios such as Bethesda and id Software.
