Microsoft is rolling out a new system update for Xbox Series X/S consoles, introducing several user-requested features and a rather nostalgic profile badge. The update focuses on enhancing the home and game library screens, offering users greater control over their local game saves and personalization options.

Perhaps the most peculiar addition is a profile badge for players who purchased an Xbox One on its original launch day in November 2013. This badge is tied to the "Day One" achievement, which was originally unlocked by redeeming a product code included with the first-edition consoles. For those who participated, this long-delayed cosmetic reward will now appear on their Xbox profile, accompanying a refresh of profile badges to include high-resolution artwork and descriptions.

The update also brings significant customization options for the Xbox home screen. Users can now remove specific items from their recent games and apps list, including the Play History tile. A new immersive background mode, activated by pressing R3, allows the console's background art to take center stage by hiding all on-screen UI elements.

To address storage concerns, a new feature allows players to manage their local game saves. Users can browse and delete local save files that are taking up excessive hard drive space, with the assurance that all save data is backed up to the cloud. Selecting a game will prompt a quick download of the cloud version when the game is next launched.

Additionally, the update includes a quality-of-life improvement that will automatically remove purchased games from a user's wishlist.

These features will begin a staggered rollout to all Xbox owners, with Xbox Insiders receiving them first for testing and bug fixing before a wider release.
