Microsoft is preparing to launch a special edition Xbox Series X console to commemorate the brand's 25th anniversary, and a recent leak indicates it will carry a premium price tag. The console, reportedly dubbed the Xbox Series X25, is expected to release on November 27, coinciding with Black Friday.
Reliable leaker billbil-kun of Dealabs has reported that the anniversary edition console will cost €899.99, with an estimated U.S. price of $899.99. This would place it $100 above the current standard Xbox Series X, which has seen its price increase to $799.99. The reported $899.99 price point for the Xbox Series X25 matches the cost of a PlayStation 5 Pro following Sony's March price adjustments.
Microsoft first announced the translucent green Xbox Series X25 in June during the Xbox Games Showcase, highlighting its celebratory design. The console is said to feature 1 TB of storage and a design that "respects our history, with the power and performance of the Xbox Series X, and a design that reflects where we’ve been and the community that’s been with us along the way," according to a company news release.
In addition to the console, a special edition green controller will also be available. This controller is expected to be sold separately for $79.99. It features a color scheme for its ABXY buttons that references the original Xbox controller. The controller's bumpers also pay homage to the original Xbox controller's black and white buttons, with one bumper being white and the other black.
Preorder details for the Xbox Series X25 are still unknown, but its planned launch on November 27 suggests a significant holiday season release for the premium hardware.
