The sight of a high unread email count can be a source of stress for many, but according to PC Gamer staff, it's not entirely their fault. The sheer volume of daily emails, many of them unsolicited or irrelevant, can make it nearly impossible to keep an inbox manageable.
Chris Livingston, Senior Editor at PC Gamer, shared that he receives well over a hundred emails daily, estimating around 50,000 annually. This is despite implementing 284 email filters, blocking nearly 200 addresses, and relying on their publisher's security system, which alone diverted 27 emails to spam in a single day.
In an effort to destigmatize the overwhelming number of unread messages, PC Gamer employees shared their own inbox statistics.
