Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother Cast Discuss Intense Role Preparation

The cast of the new film Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother, including John Cho and Adia, recently spoke at IGN Fall Fan Fest 2026 about their preparations for deeply emotional roles. The film centers on Latif, a hitman portrayed by Mahershala Ali, who grapples with his wife's death, family responsibilities, and his faith.

John Cho, who plays a pastor with extremist methods, described the collaborative process of developing his character's distinctive appearance. "It was definitely a collaborative process. I didn't know what he was gonna look like," Cho stated. He elaborated that much about the character was undecided initially, including potential accents. The costume designer, Deirdra Elizabeth Govan, contributed significantly, with elements like cowboy boots, a hat, and a shirt commemorating a mother's passing helping Cho embody the role. "And then the grills, which really took me out of my head and gave me a piece of character history," he added, noting how the visual elements helped him disconnect from his own identity.

Adia, who plays Latif's daughter Fatiha, discussed her method for connecting with her character's grief and adolescent struggles. She created a diary and wrote journal entries from Fatiha's perspective, charting her thoughts both before and during the film's events. "There's so much, there's a lot of depth going on there in terms of dealing with hormones, puberty, your mother passing, and dealing with all of that," Adia explained. She emphasized the importance of trusting her preparation once on set to remain present in the moment.

Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother is currently in theaters in the US. IGN's review of the film awarded it an 8.
