Successfully finding and solving all 16 will grant access to the Mayan Armor in Tulum, a formidable outfit now accompanied by a charm that deflects projectiles, effectively replicating the armor's protective benefits without requiring the player to wear the costume itself.

To begin interacting with the Mayan steles, players must first complete the main story mission "This Old Cove." Following this, James Kidd will provide an explanation of the puzzle mechanics. The process involves climbing to the top of each stele, interacting with it, and then rotating the superimposed pattern until it aligns with glowing objects in the environment. Once aligned, the Mayan stone can be collected.

The quest for the Mayan Armor is intrinsically tied to the main story progression, requiring players to complete "Nothing is True" and "Overrun And Outnumbered" before the door guarding the armor in Tulum becomes accessible.

Mayan Stone Locations and Solutions

Below are the locations and specific puzzle solutions for all 16 Mayan stones:

1. Great Inagua, Gibara: Found during the "This Old Cove" main story mission. Align the overlay squares with the square pillars on the left and top right.
2. Cat Island, Eleuthera (703,670): Located on the northern beach, near a previously raided warehouse. Flip the overlay so the large circle covers the rubble on the left, and the oval surrounds the narrow rock.
3. Cape Bonavista, Dry Tortuga (159,583): Accessible by heading into the mountains from the northernmost synchronization point. Rotate and shrink the overlay so the largest circle surrounds the bottom pillar, with the two smaller circles around the top two posts.
4. Matanzas, Dry Tortuga (311,617): Situated in the hills of the far southeast of the island, beyond the warehouse. Rotate the overlay left so the large circle aligns with the tree, and the two medium circles match the rocks on the far right.
5. Misteriosa, Serranilla (265,171): The first stele on this island is on the western beach, beneath Spanish soldiers on the walls above. Rotate it left so the two circles cover the posts at the bottom, and the arches align with the broken arches on the wall.
6. Misteriosa, Serranilla (272,175): The second sculpture is on the ramparts leading to the synchronization point in the northeast, adjacent to a treasure map. Rotate it left so the largest circle lines up with the biggest rock on the left, near the boat.
7. New Bone, Serranilla (400,92): Found in the northwest of the island, near where the warehouse guard and his companion converse. Flip the overlay so the four rectangles cover the rocks at the bottom.
8. Santanillas, Chinchorro (187,221): This island has one Mayan stone, located in the ruins near the center. Flip the overlay so the thicker, parallel lines connecting two circles are positioned around the two pillars at the top.
9. Sacrifice Island, Conttoyor (18,548): Situated next to the synchronization point in the island's center. Flip the overlay so the thicker, parallel lines of the triangle join the two rocks at the bottom.
10. Tulum, Conttoyor (30,382): Located on the west side of the island, not far from the "Overrun and Outnumbered" mission completion point. To solve the puzzle, flip the overlay almost fully so the two circles on the same line match the top and right pillars.
11. Tortuga, Punta Guarico (846,352): Found uphill from the plantation's northern beach, close to the island's synchronization point. Flip the overlay so the smallest circle is on the rock at the bottom, with the line extending towards the ocean.
12. Pinos Isle, Castillo de Jagua (303,452): The first of two steles on this island is a short walk south of the northwest synchronization point. Rotate the grid left to match the rectangle with the collapsed pillar at the top.
13. Pinos Isle, Castillo de Jagua (312,454): The second stele on Pinos Isle is east of the synchronization point, on a hill overlooking a shipwreck. Flip the overlay so the rectangle aligns with the wall at the top.
14. Long Bay, Charlotte (502,216): Accessible after progressing the main story to unlock Long Bay and reach the Observatory. The stele is located to the left of the Observatory's main entrance.
15. Isla Providencia, Serranilla (487,33): This island requires story progression to unlock and contains the final two Mayan stones. The first stele is in the northernmost temple ruin area, near the beach where the Jackdaw can fast travel.
16. Isla Providencia, Serranilla (476,16): The second stele on Isla Providencia is situated just to the right of the synchronization viewpoint in the southernmost temple.

Upon collecting all 16 Mayan stones, players must return to the locked door on Tulum, Conttoyor. Inside the temple, a brief climbing section precedes the acquisition of the Mayan Armor and the Yax Tun pendant. This pendant provides the projectile deflection perk, allowing players to enjoy the armor's benefits without the visual of the Mayan outfit itself.
