Acquiring the Rope Dart
In Black Flag Resynced, Edward Kenway automatically receives the Rope Dart from James Kidd during Sequence Three, within the mission "Sugarcane and its Yields." This mission typically occurs about three to four hours into the game, shortly after the player has gained control of the Jackdaw and begun naval operations. The Rope Dart is given to Edward by the bonfire at the start of the mission, during a conversation about raiding a plantation. Its acquisition allows for immediate use on nearby Redcoat soldiers.
Utilizing the Rope Dart
The Rope Dart serves two primary functions: stealth-based assassinations from above and combat utility. For stealth, players can position themselves on a high perch overlooking an enemy. With the default controller layout, pressing RB will initiate a 'Hang' prompt, allowing Edward to pull the target up and suspend them.
In combat, pressing Right Trigger + B allows Edward to fire the Rope Dart at a targeted enemy, pulling them closer. This maneuver can disorient opponents, making them vulnerable to takedowns or direct assassinations. It is also effective for closing distance or interrupting ranged attacks from enemies like riflemen.
It is important to note that the Rope Dart has a cooldown period. However, players who own the Deluxe Edition of Black Flag Resynced can equip the Brass Bird Trinket from the Master Assassin Character Pack to significantly reduce this cooldown time. The early availability of the Rope Dart enhances the strategic options for assassinations and combat encounters throughout the game.
