Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced introduces a significant change to ocean exploration: Edward Kenway can now dive anywhere, a departure from the original game's limitations to specific shipwreck sites. This expanded freedom is unlocked by obtaining the Diving Bell.
The Diving Bell is acquired during Sequence 6, as part of the mission "Diving for Medicines." Players have two primary methods for obtaining it within this mission. The first is to purchase it directly from the Nassau Harbourmaster for 5,000 Reales. Alternatively, players can follow Adewale's suggestion to steal a Diving Bell from a pirate camp located southwest of Nassau.
Should players opt to steal the Diving Bell, they will need to defeat five pirates guarding the camp. Stealth can be employed by utilizing nearby bushes or a haystack to ambush enemies. In direct confrontation, the Rope Dart can be used to disorient foes before engaging. Once the pirates are dealt with, the Diving Bell can be claimed, allowing the mission to proceed and granting access to the San Ignacio Wreck shortly thereafter.
Using the Diving Bell is a straightforward process. Players can navigate the Jackdaw to a marked shipwreck or simply deploy the bell anywhere in the ocean. This allows Edward to descend to depths previously inaccessible, enabling the collection of sunken treasures. During dives, players must monitor Edward's breath bar. Air can be replenished by locating Air Barrels anchored to the ocean floor or by finding Air Pockets. Returning to the Diving Bell also fully restores the breath bar.
Exploration beneath the waves is not without its hazards. Sharks may attack, requiring players to engage in button-mashing to escape. Avoiding sharks can be achieved by hiding in seaweed or blending in with schools of fish. Jellyfish also pose a threat, inflicting damage upon contact. Successfully navigating these dangers will allow players to fully exploit the expanded underwater exploration offered by the Diving Bell in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced.
