Officers in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced provide distinct advantages to the Jackdaw, supplementing the ship's upgrades. While gold can improve weapons and defenses at the harbourmaster, officers offer unique traits.
There are five officers to unlock, four of whom are tied to the main story progression, with the fifth accessible through a side quest. Not all officers require the completion of their associated questlines to be recruited.
Adéwalé is encountered during the main quest "The Treasure Fleet" in Sequence 2. He joins Edward as the Jackdaw's quartermaster after assisting in an escape from a Spanish ship. Despite his significant role in the campaign, Adéwalé does not grant the Jackdaw any specific skills or perks.
Lucy Baldwin, the shipwright, becomes available in Sequence 4. After Adéwalé mentions her post-"This Old Cove" quest, she can be found as a prisoner on a British fleet vessel near Salt Key Bank. Completing the "A Proper Shipwright" quest unlocks her as an officer. Lucy's ability allows the player to greatly reduce incoming damage by bracing just as an attack hits the ship.
The Padre, a master-at-arms, can be recruited in Sequence 4 after completing "This Old Cove." Adéwalé describes him as a formidable sailor. Abel Galvão, known as the Padre, can be found in Caracol, a village southeast on the map. Upon completing the "A Second Chance" side quest, he agrees to join the Jackdaw. The Padre's abilities include participation in boarding fights and granting the ram-dash maneuver, which allows the Jackdaw to speed forward and ram other ships.
Tobias "Deadman" Smith, slated to be the Jackdaw's master gunner, is unlocked through the "A World Without Gold" quest line in Sequence 11. This late-game side mission becomes available after "Everything is Permitted." Players must progress through its objectives until they encounter Deadman following a challenging fight against a British fleet commanded by the HMS Demolition. After returning to Great Inagua during the "It's a Start" objective, recruiting Deadman grants the Jackdaw's broadside cannons an extra salvo, significantly increasing damage output.
Anne Bonny becomes the Jackdaw's quartermaster after the completion of the main quest "Everything is Permitted" in Sequence 11. Edward seeks a capable individual to manage his crew, leading him to Anne, who has extensive experience handling pirates. Unlike other officers, Anne Bonny does not possess a unique officer ability.
