Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced presents players with intricate stealth challenges, notably in the "And My Sugar?" and "Claiming What's Due" quests. Both missions emphasize careful observation, environmental awareness, and precise execution to overcome enemy patrols and secure objectives without direct confrontation.
Navigating the "And My Sugar?" Quest
The "And My Sugar?" quest begins shortly after Edward Kenway arrives in Havana. Following an altercation, Stede Bonnet informs Edward that his dispatches have been stolen by Spanish soldiers. The initial objective is to gather more information, which can be achieved by hiding in a nearby haystack and eavesdropping on patrolling soldiers.
Players are then instructed to proceed north to observe a public hanging. Remaining amidst the crowd is crucial for avoiding suspicion until Captain Mendoza has moved a safe distance away. The game indicates the player's safety by displaying a "hidden" icon when they are undetected.
Mendoza and his guards enter the Castillo, a heavily fortified location. A direct assault is ill-advised due to the overwhelming number of enemies. Instead, a stealthier approach is recommended. The Castillo features an alternative entrance on its right side, accessible via a wooden structure. Caution is needed to bypass two soldiers guarding this entry point, waiting for the opportune moment when the second soldier is not looking before proceeding up the staircase. This section introduces Eagle Vision, a tool that highlights nearby enemies.
Upon turning right, players can neutralize a soldier to discover an additional clue: the stolen goods are stored in a locked room at the Castillo's highest point. Continuing towards the courtyard, players should utilize haystacks for cover while waiting for soldiers to pass before ascending to the upper levels.
Although the quest marker indicates the location of the stolen goods, the key is not yet acquired. Players must locate and pickpocket Captain Mendoza. This is best accomplished using stealth, as Mendoza is often facing away from the player. Care must be taken to avoid a patrolling soldier on the wall behind him.
With the key in hand, players should incapacitate the soldier guarding the storage room and retrieve the stolen goods. Before returning to Stede Bonnet, players may wish to unlock the viewpoint on the Castillo's tower, located opposite the storage room, for fast travel purposes.
Completing "Claiming What's Due"
Following the "And My Sugar?" quest, "Claiming What's Due" presents another significant stealth challenge. This mission involves infiltrating a prison to rescue a captured Sage.
After a conversation with Stede Bonnet, players must sneak into a large garden to the west of the main entrance. A gap in the wall to the left of the entrance provides an alternative entry point. Observing the garden layout from atop a nearby building offers a strategic advantage.
The recommended route involves moving to the right, hugging the wall, and proceeding counterclockwise past a watchtower. Players should continue past a small building and a campfire, keeping to the bushes until a large stone staircase becomes visible.
Ascending the stairs and taking cover in the bushes is advised due to the presence of numerous soldiers. Players must wait for a patrolling soldier to turn away before climbing onto the roof of a building on the left. From the opposite side of the roof, a soldier can either be bypassed or eliminated. Afterward, utilizing a haystack and crates allows access over a wall, leading to an area where players can eavesdrop on soldiers.
This eavesdropping reveals that the prison warden may possess knowledge of the Sage's location. To find the warden, players should approach the tower to the right and use a lift to reach its roof. From this vantage point, the warden can be observed, confirming he carries the prison key.
Once the soldiers disperse, the warden patrols the northeast corner of the building. Assassinating him from the rooftop is a viable option for obtaining the prison key, provided no witnesses are present. A strategic approach involves crossing the eastern courtyard exit, sneaking past a soldier on the roof, and lying in wait above a tall ladder. Unlocking the nearby viewpoint before descending is also recommended.
With the prison key obtained, players proceed west to rescue the Sage. A single soldier patrols the building's northwest corner, and players should follow behind him to avoid detection. The prison door itself is unguarded.
Unlocking the prison door triggers a cutscene, concluding the "Claiming What's Due" quest. This mission has a singular outcome, and it directly leads into the subsequent quest, "The Treasure Fleet."
