Control Resonant: Best Combo Finishers To Unlock First

Unlocking Combo Finishers is an additional consideration for your attack strategy in Control Resonant. With six options to choose from, this guide reveals which ones are recommended to unlock first.

Combo Finishers act as combo enders that typically inflict significant Falter damage, potentially leading to executions while dealing heavy damage. Upon visiting the Gap, you can access the Combo Finishers menu via the largest stone slab. Each finisher costs one Living Shard to unlock and provides a +5 bonus to your Aberrant Strength Multiplier. Only one Combo Finisher can be equipped at a time, accessible via the Loadout menu in the pause screen.

Each finisher also features an upgrade tree requiring various resources such as Distorted Forms, Source, Corrupted Elements, and Warped Resonance.

Control Resonant Combo Finishers Ranked

While all Combo Finishers offer utility, some prove more effective than others. Here is a ranking from least to most recommended:

6. Uppercut Surge

Uppercut Surge's unique effect applies 'Lifted' to enemies. Hitting these airborne foes recovers extra Power, and a charged attack can increase Damage and Falter. However, lifting enemies can also make evasion more difficult and may not always be ideal depending on the terrain. This finisher is best suited for players who prefer launching enemies.

5. Split Pivot

Split Pivot utilizes a circular blade, dealing 136-273 Damage and 9-22 Falter. Upgrades can add Fire Damage and Burn effects. This finisher aids in building Falter for executions and achieving Dominance. While competent, other options offer greater advantages. The Combo Finisher menu for Split Pivot in Control Resonant

4. Split Orbit

This variant of the Split Combo Finisher unleashes a damaging blade that circles Dylan, effective for close-range engagements. Its utility is perhaps best realized later in the game after acquiring more resources for upgrades, particularly when facing more challenging encounters. 3. Wide Edge

Wide Edge delivers a powerful, wide-reaching attack that deals 426 Damage and pushes enemies back. This is particularly useful for managing groups and creating space when surrounded. Its Falter damage is modest at 16, though upgrades can enhance this, especially against Drone enemies or by accumulating Falter based on hits. 2. Concussive Beatdown

Concussive Beatdown involves a series of quick strikes that deal 153-307 Damage and a substantial 47-78 Falter. This finisher serves as an effective setup for further damage due to its high Falter output. While very strong, its upgrades are considered slightly less impactful than the top-ranked option. 1. Spin Edge

Spin Edge is highlighted as the top Combo Finisher due to its upgrade path. It initiates with a spin that damages all nearby enemies for 176 Damage. Its upgrades include Slash Synergy for quicker Power recovery and Forceful Authority, which adds 25% Damage and Falter during Dominance. This makes it a strong choice for managing weaker, numerous enemies early on and offers significant advantages during extended combat phases.
