Control Resonant: Best Talents for Early Game Progression

In Control Resonant, acquiring Talent Points early is crucial for unlocking passive skills and perks that significantly ease the challenges presented by the Hiss. This guide outlines the most beneficial Talents to invest in during the initial stages of the game, ensuring you maximize your combat potential.

Essential Early Talents

Upon entering the Gap, players can spend Talent Points to unlock various abilities. While some early choices are linear, the tree quickly branches out, demanding strategic decisions. Prioritizing certain Talents can provide a substantial advantage.

Dominance

The first Talent available, Dominance, is a mandatory early unlock. It enhances melee damage for 8 seconds after performing an Execution, boosting Primary and Combo Finishers by 100% and Secondary attacks by 50%. Enemies defeated using Dominance also guarantee Health Element drops. While triggering Executions requires building Falter damage, subsequent Talents will facilitate this.

All-Rounder and Extra Impact

Following Dominance, players face a choice. All-Rounder offers a general 5% increase to both Damage and Falter damage, providing a solid offensive boost across the board. Its counterpart, Extra Impact, becomes available soon after and adds 10% extra Falter damage specifically from Combat Abilities. These two Talents synergize well, as Falter becomes integral to the combat strategy, enabling powerful Executions.

Perfect Dodge

At this stage, Perfect Dodge is the sole option. This Talent grants Retaliation when a Dodge is executed just before an attack lands, boosting the next attack's Damage and Falter by 50%. This ability becomes even more potent with later Talent unlocks.

Mid-Game Talent Priorities

As the Talent tree expands, more complex choices arise, particularly with a four-way split.

Extended Rush and Cleansing Rush

Extended Rush significantly increases the duration of the Rush ability, allowing for greater mobility and easier evasion of extended enemy attacks. Immediately after, Cleansing Rush becomes available. This Talent allows the enhanced Rush ability to remove status ailments twice as fast. This is particularly useful against enemies inflicting status effects like Mold and Burn, helping Jesse recover health more effectively.

Retribution and Agile Response

Prioritizing the left side of the Talent tree leads to Retribution, which increases Retaliation's Falter damage by 25%. This further enhances the synergy with Dominance. Following this is Agile Response, granting a 25% Damage and Falter boost to Dodge Attacks. Given Control Resonant's emphasis on close-quarters combat and evasive maneuvers, this Talent significantly amplifies offensive output.

Sanctioned Retaliation and Extended Falter

Moving towards the center of the tree unlocks Sanctioned Retaliation, which recovers 50% more Power. This is vital for frequently using Combat Abilities, which become increasingly important for dealing Falter damage and executing enemies. Finally, Extended Falter is recommended to ensure enemies remain in their vulnerable Faltered state for a longer duration, allowing players more flexibility in maintaining damage-boosting combos.
