However, accessing the otherworldly machines for their wave-based combat challenges requires a bit more effort than simply walking up to them. These cabinets serve as a wave-based arena mode where players face off against the Hiss, with faster clear times leading to higher scores.
Unlocking the SHUM Cabinets
To unlock the SHUM arcade cabinets, players must first reach Level 6 in the specific Zone where the cabinet is located. This leveling can be achieved through several in-game activities, including completing Zone-specific missions, engaging in combat with enemies within the Zone, finishing side missions, and eliminating Corrupted Hiss. Each of these actions contributes to earning experience points (XP) needed to reach the required level.
Once a Zone reaches Level 6, the SHUM arcade cabinet becomes accessible. Interacting with it will initiate the game mode, which consists of a single, challenging encounter. This mode features powerful enemies and random events, demanding players survive a prolonged fight.
Upon successful completion of the challenge, players are ranked based on their performance. Each cabinet also features a local leaderboard, allowing players to compare their scores. Higher rankings on these leaderboards yield better rewards, specifically Power Upgrade Points.
