Control Resonant: The Unknown Resonant Mission Walkthrough

The 'The Unknown Resonant' mission in Control Resonant automatically begins as you explore the Unknown region. It is likely the last Resonant mission players will encounter, and its successful completion unlocks Dylan's full suite of abilities. Be advised that this guide contains minor spoilers.

The Unknown Resonant Mission Objectives

You will likely discover 'The Unknown Resonant' mission while progressing through the 'Sever the Hedron Links' main mission and the 'Pope's Research' side mission, specifically when you arrive on the island containing the Field Office. It is recommended to tackle this mission upon arrival for narrative coherence and potential late-game advantages.

The objectives for 'The Unknown Resonant' mission are as follows:

  • Get to the Rangers.
  • Advance with the rangers.
  • Disrupt the pattern.
  • Advance with the rangers.
  • Open the gate for the rangers.
  • Advance with the rangers.
  • Look for a way around the gate.
  • Survive the ambush.
  • Advance with the rangers.
  • Kill the Resonant.

Reaching the Rangers

Upon landing on the island with the Field Office, proceed through the blue doors to the left of the respawn point. You will encounter Hiss enemies, which can be dealt with using your existing combat skills. After clearing the area, speak with the rangers to join them as backup.

Accompanying the Rangers

From this point, you will be accompanying the rangers. Your primary role is to clear obstacles and defeat enemies, as the rangers are invulnerable during this segment. Head through the double doors in front of the rangers to proceed.

Disrupting the Pattern

This objective requires you to interact with an object that does not match a displayed pattern. If you have engaged with World Feats previously, you will be familiar with this mechanic. The out-of-place object, for example, a booth positioned slightly higher than others, must be struck. It is advisable to strike the object once and then observe the pattern's next sequence to avoid inadvertently resetting the puzzle. Once the pattern is disrupted, you can advance through the next set of double doors.

Advancing Further

Continue with the rangers after passing through the double doors. Take the first right to engage any waiting Hiss enemies. Following this encounter, you will reach another road where the next gate requires power to open.

Powering the Gate

To open the gate, you need to find a Power Core with electricity. From the gate, turn right towards a bus parked near the edge of a patterned section of the road. Jump down into the area below, avoiding the 'Shift' ability which may lead to locked doors. Look for a set of open doors. Use your 'Reach' ability on the wall near these doors to access them. Inside, you will find a resource chest and a Power Core containing electricity.

Here's how to transfer the electricity to open the gate:

  1. Take the electricity from the Power Core.
  2. Use 'Reach' on the patterned platform directly in front of you.
  3. Jump or float to the next patterned platform, navigating any closing rings. Use 'Reach' on the subsequent platform when close enough.
  4. Use 'Reach' to descend to the road below.
  5. Place the electricity into the nearby Power Core to reset the timer and gain more time.

  5. Rush back to the original Power Core and insert the electricity to open the doors for the rangers.

Unlocking the 'Extended Rush' talent can significantly help with this puzzle by increasing Rush's duration.

Proceeding Through the Gate

After opening the gate, proceed through it and engage any Hiss enemies. Continue through the opened doors, located beneath a sign that reads 'Avaliable.' Ascend the stairs inside this building to reach the road on the other side. Follow this road until you encounter another locked gate.

Navigating Around the Gate

To bypass this gate, climb onto the nearby lorry to gain enough height to use 'Reach' to access the roof with the patterned billboard.

Follow the rooftops to the left. When appropriate, jump across to the opposite buildings, then jump to the section of road visible from your current position, characterized by green scaffolding.

Continue down this road until you can jump to the left, towards the Field Office. Prepare for an ambush as you approach the Field Office area.

Surviving the Ambush

Upon reaching the Field Office, you will face a significant enemy onslaught. This combat encounter is extended; utilize all your abilities and the environment for cover. The rangers will eventually reach the gate, but they offer limited assistance.

Advancing to the Boss

After defeating all enemies, explore the Field Office. Collect the Power Upgrade Point located on the side of the gate that previously barred the rangers' path.

Access the Field Office and unlock the Patterned Field Office fast travel point. It is highly recommended to visit The Gap for any necessary upgrades and to spend Talent Points. Afterward, join the rangers in the elevator and proceed upwards.

Defeating The Resonant

Exiting the elevator will lead you to face The Unknown Resonant. Upon defeating this boss, you will acquire the 'Command' ability, which allows you to temporarily turn enemies into allies. This ability has a meter gauge that depletes with use and requires time to recharge. The gauge's capacity may be further expanded through the Talent tree or by reaching specific progression milestones.

Completing 'The Unknown Resonant' mission rewards you with 4,000 Source, one Reset Item, the Untapped 1996 Commemorative Coin, one Talent Point, and Unknown XP. If this was the final Resonant mission, you will also unlock the Casual Outfit: Resonants, and the objective 'Notes: Defeat The Resonant Entities' will be marked as complete.
