Final Fantasy Resonance: All Esper Locations and How to Recruit Them

Espers in Final Fantasy Resonance function as powerful summons that Fina can call upon in combat, offering both offensive capabilities and strategic utility as decoys. While summoning costs MP, acquiring these allies requires players to locate and often defeat them in various challenging encounters across the game's world. The game provides hints to their locations through NPCs with exclamation marks above their heads, which then appear on the world map.

Understanding Esper Mechanics

Unlike traditional summons, Espers in Final Fantasy Resonance are unique to Fina and cannot be directly controlled by the player. Once summoned, they remain on the battlefield for three turns, using a random action from their repertoire each turn before unleashing their strongest skill. While player support spells can affect Espers, their actions and targets are predetermined. After their deployment, Fina can resummon them on her next turn, provided she has sufficient MP, with no cooldown or charge meter limiting their use beyond this resource.

Esper Locations and Recruitment

Espers are typically found within caves or dungeons, and their general whereabouts can often be uncovered by speaking with townsfolk. If an Esper proves too difficult, players are free to retreat and return later once their party is better prepared, as the Esper will remain in its location.

Siren

Siren is encountered as a mandatory boss during Chapter 1, making her recruitment unmissable. She joins Fina's party after her defeat.

Ramuh

Located in the Mt. Thunderclap summit in Dirnado during Chapter 2, Ramuh can be found by taking the entrance east of Zidane's shrine. This level 20 Esper is weak to earth-based attacks.

Carbuncle

In Chapter 3, players can find Carbuncle in the Ruby Cave. The recruitment process involves solving a riddle on a tablet, which then requires finding three specific items on the world map in the correct order. The game aids players by marking their locations on the mini-map.

Ifrit

After acquiring the airship in Chapter 5, players can travel to the volcano to confront Ifrit. This level 33 Esper is weak to water attacks.

Titan

Also available in Chapter 5, Titan resides within a large rock east of Siren's tower. This location becomes accessible only after completing the initial gladiator trials in Grandshelt, which rewards Lid with a new hammer capable of breaking the rock. Titan, a level 30 Esper, is weak to wind.

Leviathan

Completing Nichol's side quest, "Nichol's Duty," in Olderion after obtaining the airship in Chapter 5 will unlock Leviathan.

Shiva

Found on the southern island in a snowstorm after players discover Mysidia in Chapter 5, Shiva is weak to fire-based attacks.

Odin

In Chapter 6, after Fina learns Holy, players can find Odin in the Bladerain Stele cave east in Gronoa. Interacting with the tablet within the cave initiates a quest that culminates in a battle against the level 45 Odin, who is weak to electricity.
