Golden Fern is a Snezhnayan local specialty material introduced in Genshin Impact version 7.0. This bright yellow-and-orange item is crucial as an Ascension material for the 5-Star Anemo character Vesna, and may be required for future character upgrades.
These ferns have a two-day respawn time, making efficient farming routes essential for players looking to collect enough. While some areas offer larger quantities, others require unlocking specific quests.
Golden Fern Locations
Several areas in Genshin Impact are home to Golden Ferns. Players can find them in large groups, which can significantly speed up collection. Equipping characters like Alyosha or Odette can also help, as their special abilities add a hand symbol to the mini-map indicating the location of nearby special materials.
Rankova Zora
Located north of Rankova Zora, east of Flamefeather Valley and south of Morepesok, this area boasts 45 Golden Ferns. This is considered the most efficient spot for farming due to the high concentration of ferns and their close proximity to each other. Players exploring this area should maintain their Kresnik Energy levels to counteract the cold environment.
Everfrozen Earth (near Central Station)
West of Central Station, the Everfrozen Earth valley contains nine Golden Ferns. Despite the smaller quantity, a nearby Teleport Waypoint makes collecting these ferns a quick and convenient task.
Flamefeather Valley
This area, west of Rankova Zora, holds 26 Golden Ferns. However, access to Flamefeather Valley is gated behind the 'In the Dwelling of Life' quest. Note that this region is a firearms exploration habitat, which decreases exploration speed. While the Traveler is controlled in this mode, characters like Odette and Alyosha can still assist in locating the ferns if they were in the party before entering the area.
Golden Fern Chest Location
An additional nine Golden Ferns can be obtained from a chest located just north of Rankova Zora, situated on breakable ice. This is a one-time pickup. Players must defeat the surrounding enemies to unlock the chest and claim the ferns.
Usage of Golden Ferns
Currently, Vesna requires 168 Golden Ferns for her full Ascension. With approximately 80 ferns available in Snezhnaya, collecting the necessary amount typically takes three farming days. This can be reduced to two days by also collecting the ferns from the chest north of Rankova Zora.
