One way to acquire Dog Coins is by defeating Mimogs. These Pals resemble treasure chests and can be found throughout the Palapagos Islands. While locating them is straightforward, capturing them proves more challenging as they tend to flee when attacked. As of version 1.0, Mimogs can only be bred by combining two Mimogs. Mimogs are Neutral-type Pals and are vulnerable to Dark-type attacks, making a team of strong Dark-type Pals advisable for combat. Due to their evasive nature, players may find it beneficial to trap a Mimog before engaging it. Capturing a Mimog also grants the Partner Skill to open locked chests without a key, which can sometimes yield valuable loot like Dog Coins.
Another avenue for obtaining Dog Coins is through Pal Expeditions, specifically the Moonflower's Secret Hideout (Hard) expedition. This method is less predictable but can be a viable option if players have surplus Pals at their base that can be assigned to the expedition without impacting essential base operations. To initiate Pal Expeditions, players will need to construct a Pal Expedition Station, which becomes available at Tier 22 in the Technology Tree.
Syndicate Oil Rigs scattered across the map also present an opportunity to find Dog Coins. Players may discover these coins within the main Treasure Chest located in the stronghold of these oil rigs. However, finding Dog Coins is not guaranteed, as other rewards are also available, making this an unreliable farming method.
Salvaging Scrap found floating in the oceans can sometimes yield Dog Coins. This process requires a Water Mount to reach the scrap piles and a Fishing Rod to interact with them. Players must then execute a specific command when the marker is positioned within the green section of the outer circle to successfully retrieve materials.
Supply Drops, when encountered, are also worth checking for Dog Coins among the variety of materials they might contain. While not a consistent source, it is a worthwhile endeavor if a Supply Drop is nearby.
Medal Merchants offer a selection of items for purchase with Dog Coins. These include various handbooks for applying skills like Kindling, Watering, and Mining, each costing 300 Dog Coins. Higher-tier Starfruits are available, with prices ranging from 50 to 400 Dog Coins. Additionally, decorative headwear such as the Cattiva Hat and Lamball Helm, along with schematics for Lily's Spear and an enhanced version, can be purchased. Various Pal-boosting elixirs, including Vital Elixir and Speed Elixir, are also available for 200 Dog Coins each.
