Fishing in Palworld offers a unique way to encounter and capture aquatic Pals, but it requires specific tools: a Fishing Rod and Bait. Both can be crafted by unlocking their respective recipes in the Technology Tree and gathering the necessary materials.
Crafting Fishing Rods
There are three tiers of Fishing Rods available, each with increasing material requirements and unlocking at higher Technology Levels:
- Beginner Fishing Rod: Unlocked at Technology Level 15 (requires 2 Tech Points). Materials: 10 Paladium Fragment, 3 Pal Fluid, 8 Ingot, 8 Fiber.
- Intermediate Fishing Rod: Unlocked at Technology Level 29 (requires 2 Tech Points). Materials: 30 Paladium Fragment, 10 High Quality Pal Oil, 10 Cement, 30 Fiber.
- Advanced Fishing Rod: Unlocked at Technology Level 45 (requires 3 Tech Points). Materials: 30 Paladium Fragment, 20 High Quality Pal Oil, 15 Pal Metal Ingot, 30 Carbon Fiber.
Crafting Bait
Bait is essential for attracting Pals to your fishing line. Like Fishing Rods, different types of bait can be crafted, each requiring specific ingredients and unlocked through the Technology Tree:
- Simple Bait: Unlocked by default (no Technology Level requirement). Materials: 2 Aquatic Pal Fluid, 4 Red Berries, 2 Flour.
- High Quality Bait: Unlocked at Technology Level 23 (requires 1 Tech Point). Materials: 3 Aquatic Pal Fluid, 4 Tomato, 3 Flour.
- Deluxe Bait: Unlocked at Technology Level 38 (requires 2 Tech Points). Materials: 4 High Quality Pal Oil, 4 Onion, 3 Carrot, 4 Flour.
- Alluring Bait: Unlocked at Technology Level 52 (requires 2 Tech Points). Materials: 10 High Quality Pal Oil, 1 Cavern Mushroom, 3 Carrot, 5 Flour.
How to Fish
Once you have a Fishing Rod and some Bait, find a body of water. Look for shadows beneath the surface, which indicate the presence of fishable Pals. Some of these Pals may require a higher-tier Fishing Rod or specific Bait to catch.
Equip your Fishing Rod and use the prompt to cast your line with attached Bait. When a Pal bites, a gauge will appear. To successfully reel in your catch, you must keep the indicator within the moving yellow fish marker on the gauge until the circle above the bar is full.
The visual effect around the water shadows can provide clues about the type of Pal you're about to reel in: a purple shimmer suggests an Alpha Pal, while a green shimmer indicates a Rainbow Passive Pal.
