The 'Boarding The Frigate' quest in Arc Raiders challenges players to board the massive new Frigate introduced in the 'Frozen Trail' update and damage specific enemy types. This Frigate can appear on any map, with the exception of Stella Montis, as a unique map condition. It presents a significant threat, surpassing even the Matriarch in scale and difficulty.
Quest Objectives
The quest comprises four objectives, with the latter three being completable in any order after the initial step:
- Find a way onto the Frigate.
- Deal 100 damage to a Hydra.
- Deal 100 damage to a Vaporizer.
- Deal 100 damage to a Rocketeer.
To prepare for combat against the Frigate's robotic inhabitants, it is advisable to equip weapons and explosives effective against machines, such as the Hullcracker, seeker grenades, or wolfpack grenades.
Boarding the Frigate
Upon a Frigate encounter, the colossal ship will descend and hover above the map. Smaller vessels will detach and disperse across the terrain. To initiate the boarding process, players must ascend one of these smaller ships and interact with the designated prompt to disrupt it. This action will cause the smaller ship to return to the mothership.
Navigating these smaller ships can be challenging. The use of a snaphook and grappling hook is recommended for both reaching the smaller vessels and for traversing the Frigate's varied terrain once aboard. The Frigate's interior consists of a series of tunnels and passages that eventually lead to its exterior.
Engaging Enemies on the Frigate
Once on top of the Frigate, players will encounter the enemies required for the quest. Hydras are multi-headed turrets that emerge from the ground, while Rocketeers and Vaporizers are airborne threats, often accompanied by other smaller flying machines. The number of enemies deployed will increase as the Frigate's cores are damaged and its loot becomes more accessible.
Crucially, the entire Frigate encounter does not need to be completed to finish this quest. Dealing the specified 100 damage to each enemy type is sufficient. Players can even perish after meeting these damage thresholds and still have the quest marked as complete. The subsequent quest, 'Disrupting The Frigate,' will require more progress on the Frigate's puzzle mechanics.
Upon returning to Celeste, players will be rewarded with 10,000 XP, a snaphook, a wolfpack, a Rascal I, and three launcher ammunition packs.
