The Scarecrow quest in Valor Mortis requires players to find two lost items belonging to a deceased soldier. This side quest is initiated in Chapter 3 after players defeat General Lothaire and proceed through the Abandoned Church and into the Fallen Village.
Starting the Quest
To begin 'The Scarecrow,' players should look for the scarecrow situated to the right of the path behind the Fields Lantern in the Fallen Village. Investigating this figure will reveal that the scarecrow is missing a necklace and a torn pocket. The quest objective is to retrieve these two items.
Retrieving the Lost Items
The first item, the Lover's Pendant, is located at the foot of the tree directly behind the scarecrow. Players can loot a soldier's body found there to obtain it.
The second item, the Letter With a Drawing, is found within a creepy house situated on a hill. To access it, players must first defeat an elite Risen Grenadier encountered after following the road behind them. Proceed into the field with haystacks, then turn left instead of continuing on the main road to find the back door of the house. The item is located upstairs on a desk near the bed. Players can also find three hand grenades in this room. Unlocking the front door downstairs provides a shortcut back to the Fields Lantern.
Completing the Quest
After returning the two items to the scarecrow's corpse, players will notice a murder of crows flying from the scarecrow towards a field behind the creepy house. Follow the crows into this field and locate a building on the right side. Climb the scaffolding to reach the upper floor and watch the woman's memory to complete 'The Scarecrow' quest.
Upon completion, players will be rewarded with 6,500 catalysts and the Bountiful Harvest amber. Additionally, a treasure chest on the first floor of the building contains the Volatile End amber.
