To craft goo in Enshrouded, players must first summon and progress the Alchemist, Balthazar. This mysterious substance is crucial for several important crafting recipes, most notably for strengthening the Flame Altar to level 4, which requires 15 units of goo.
Unlocking the Goo Crafting Recipe
Before goo can be crafted, players need to unlock its recipe. This is achieved by finding and summoning the Alchemist, Balthazar. His Ancient Vault is located northwest of the Cinder Vault and directly west of the Ancient Spire in the Springlands region. Once summoned at your base, players must complete his initial quests until the mortar is built as part of "The Alchemist's Mortar."
Building the mortar allows for the crafting of bug dust, a key component in making goo. Bug dust is created using critter parts, which are obtained by defeating the blue beetles found within the Shroud. The goo crafting recipe becomes available immediately after successfully crafting bug dust for the first time.
The Goo Crafting Recipe
Once the recipe is unlocked, goo can be crafted at the Alchemist's workbench. The ingredients required are:
- 1 Springlands dirt
- 2 Shroud mushrooms
- 1 Bug dust
Springlands dirt can be gathered by hitting the ground with a pickaxe anywhere in the Springlands region. Shroud mushrooms are large fungi found in the Revelwood region, which can be harvested by chopping down the massive mushroom stalks.
In addition to its use in upgrading the Flame Altar, goo is also a component in crafting items such as the Adventurer's Trousers, the Healing Tunic, and various spells. Players will likely need to gather a significant amount of goo to progress through the game's crafting and upgrading systems.
