Minecraft's Abandoned Camps, introduced with the Wilderness Bound update, offer players a chance to find valuable loot, new crafting materials, and decorative items. These scattered locations often contain at least one treasure chest, essential survival supplies, and the possibility of a rare Copper Chest with even better rewards. While finding the first camp may require some exploration, subsequent camps can often be found by following a trail of maps.
Locating Abandoned Camps
Abandoned Camps are most commonly found within forest biomes. Players have reported sightings in Birch Forests, Windswept Forests, Bamboo Forests, and even Dappled Forests. While they may appear in other biomes, heading into woodland areas is your best bet for discovery. The camps are easily identifiable due to their large, white tents constructed from Wool Stairs, a distinct block type added in the Wilderness Bound update. These structures stand out clearly in most wooded environments, with the exception of the dense Dark Forest biome.
Loot and Rewards
Upon finding an Abandoned Camp, players can expect to find a variety of items. Common loot includes Berries, Campfires, Cobwebs, and Cushions. Straw Beds are also consistently present, offering a convenient way to set a spawn point without crafting a new one. Each camp typically includes at least one chest, which may occasionally be a barrel, both containing useful supplies. Breaking down Straw Beds, Wool Stairs, and Cushions can yield their respective crafting recipes, with Cushions serving as decorative items and Straw Beds providing a single-use respawn point.
A rarer find is the Copper Chest, typically buried one block underground and often marked by a distinctive, contrasting block. These chests are worth seeking out as they are likely to contain valuable items such as armor or maps leading to other points of interest.
Following the Trail
A key feature of Abandoned Camps is the inclusion of a treasure map within the main chest. This map usually directs players to another Abandoned Camp, creating a chain that simplifies the process of finding multiple locations. This map-based progression can continue for several camps before a camp is found without a map. In fortunate instances, a map might even lead to a camp situated within the less common Dappled Forest biome.
