Panthalus, a powerful Level 70 Alpha Pal in Palworld, is a valuable Water-type addition to any player's roster. Acquiring this Pal is a multi-step process that begins with completing a specific quest and culminates in a challenging boss fight.
Initiating the Panthalus Quest
Before embarking on the quest to find Panthalus, players must first defeat the bosses within the Azure Covenant Tower in Sunreach and speak with Auri there at least twice. Following this, the next step involves traveling to the Deserted Islet. There, an Ancient Civilization Researcher awaits. Speaking with this NPC will officially begin the Panthalus quest, tasking players with locating four distinct giant remains scattered across the Palpagos Islands.
Locating the Giant Remains
Once the quest is active, the locations of the four required remains will be marked on your map. The first bone, the Tidewind Echobone, is situated in the Astral Mountains region, west of the Tower of the PAL Genetic Research Unit. From the Land of Absolute Zero Fast Travel Point, players can use a flying mount to descend west and find it.
The second bone, the Silent Echobone, is located west of the Verdant Brook area, a short swim south of the Jormuntide Alpha Pal spawn and the Altar of the Windcaller Fast Travel Point.
For the third bone, the Marine Echobone, players should travel to the waters south of Windswept Hills, east of the Grassy Behemoth Hills Fast Travel Point. It can be found at the end of the giant remains, near the skull.
The final bone, the Seafoam Echobone, is in the Mount Obsidian region. Positioned west of the Scorched Obsidian Watchtower Fast Travel Point, players can find it by heading southwest towards the skull of the giant remains.
Crafting the Echoing Flute
After collecting all four bones, players must return to their base and use a Workbench to craft the Echoing Flute. This legendary schematic is found in the 'Tools' tab and requires only the four collected bones for its construction.
With the Echoing Flute crafted, return to the Ancient Civilization Researcher on the Deserted Islet and speak with them. This action will trigger a glowing rock near the researcher, initiating the boss battle against Panthalus.
The Panthalus Boss Fight
The battle against Panthalus is a difficult encounter characterized by numerous Water-type projectiles and waves. Players are advised to equip their best defensive armor, utilize footwear that allows for double jumps and mid-air dashes, and employ long-range weapons. Bringing Electric-type Pals is crucial, as they exploit Panthalus's elemental weakness. Additionally, having both a swimming and a flying mount can significantly aid in maneuverability and evading powerful attacks.
Panthalus's Abilities and Uses
Upon defeating and catching Panthalus, players will find it has no Work Suitabilities. However, its Partner Skill, 'Resonant Guardian,' allows it to patrol and defend a player's base. Beyond its defensive capabilities, Panthalus serves as one of the best flying mounts in the game, rivaled perhaps only by Jetragon, making it a highly desirable Pal for both base defense and aerial traversal.
