How to Find and Defeat Sephiroth in Final Fantasy Resonance

Unlocking Sephiroth's Vision in Final Fantasy Resonance requires players to confront the legendary antagonist in a demanding boss battle. The Vision appears in the menu as a grayed-out option until this challenge is met. To access it, players must locate a hidden whirlpool accessible only after obtaining the airship in Chapter 5.

Locating Sephiroth's Vision

After acquiring the airship at the beginning of Chapter 5, players can navigate to a whirlpool situated north of the bridge leading to the desert region of Grandshelt. Approaching this whirlpool will prompt players to enter. Inside, they will find a crystal, similar to other Vision shrines, but interacting with it will trigger a warning that a challenge must be overcome before the Vision can be claimed.

The Sephiroth Boss Fight

Sephiroth is a level 45 boss with 250,000 HP, bested through a three-phase encounter. While higher character levels are recommended for an easier experience, preparation and strategy are key.

It is crucial to utilize the Libra ability at the start of each phase to identify Sephiroth's HP and elemental weaknesses. A dedicated healer is essential, as standard healing methods and items may not suffice. Firion's "Arms Akimbo" Mastery Skill is highly recommended for healers, enabling them to perform dual actions, which is vital for party-wide healing and reviving downed allies.

Equipping Rain with the Warrior of Light Vision is a strategic choice. This grants immunity to dark damage and the "Multi-Cover" skill, which redirects all incoming damage to Rain. This allows him to absorb powerful attacks like "Heartless Angel," preventing the rest of the party from being reduced to 1 HP. Rain's "Provoke" and "Multi-Cover" skills should be used consistently to protect the team. Utilizing Nichol for mass buff casting can also be effective, though care must be taken to manage buffs, as Sephiroth can remove them with "Nihilistic Solitude."

Using non-elemental Espers like Odin or Bahamut is advised, as Sephiroth shifts elemental resistances. Carbuncle is not recommended in phase two due to its tendency to grant excessive buffs that Sephiroth will remove. Lid's "Mechamog Scan" skill, obtained through side quests, can permanently implant a weakness on Sephiroth, offering a significant damage advantage.

Phase 1

In the initial phase, Sephiroth alternates between direct attacks and casting "Masamune in Waiting," which prompts him to counter physical attacks. He employs various magic and dark physical attacks, and his magic defense is higher during this phase.

Phase 2

Upon reaching approximately 200,000 HP, Sephiroth becomes temporarily immune to all damage and transitions to phase two. This phase begins with "One-Winged Angel." Shortly after, he unleashes "Heartless Angel," reducing the entire party's HP to one. The "Multi-Cover" skill is critical here, allowing the designated tank to absorb the brunt of this attack.

Sephiroth will then charge with a random element and gain a weakness to the opposing element. Attacking with the charged element will be ineffective. Players must exploit his weakness or use light/non-elemental attacks, being cautious of counterattacks from AOE magic. Failing to defeat him before the "Heartless Angel" cooldown can lead to a party wipe.

Sephiroth also uses "Graviga," which halves party HP, and other AOE attacks. If the party accumulates too many buffs, "Nihilistic Solitude" will be cast, inflicting dark damage and dispelling all buffs. The Warrior of Light Vision on the tank mitigates this by providing dark damage immunity and allowing "Multi-Cover" to absorb the attack, preserving buffs.

Phase 3

With 50,000 HP remaining, Sephiroth enters his final phase, which acts as a DPS check. He becomes immune to damage during the transition and casts "Divine Proclamation," marked by a meteor icon. He follows this with another "Heartless Angel," necessitating the use of "Multi-Cover" on the tank.

A meteor countdown begins, ending the fight if it reaches zero. Sephiroth gains a weakness to light and begins absorbing dark element skills. Players must focus their strongest non-dark attacks on him until the battle concludes, while managing their HP.

Sephiroth Vision Abilities

Sephiroth's Vision is a powerful asset, offering a wide array of elemental damage and passive abilities. His Resonance, "True Octaslash," deals non-elemental physical damage to all enemies. Combined with his "Ultimate Aggression" mastery bonus, which guarantees critical hits on Limit Bursts and Resonances, this results in substantial damage output.

His skills include "Boundless Void," "Dark Surge," "Firaga," "Blizzaga," "Thundaga," "Purging Blade," "Darkga Surge," "Curaga," and "Meteor." Passive skills like "Physical Attack +30%," "Magic Attack +30%," "Critical Hit Rate +20%," and "Jenova Cells" enhance his offensive and defensive capabilities. The "Legendary SOLDIER" skill allows him to apply the higher of physical or magic attack/defense stats, while "One-Winged Angel" provides passive HP and MP regeneration and boosts the "Jenova Cells" cap.

Sephiroth's mastery bonuses further amplify his combat effectiveness. "Perfect Serenity" increases standard attack and battle skill damage by 50%, "Critical Hit Rate +20%" boosts critical hit frequency, and "Ultimate Aggression" ensures critical hits on Limit Bursts and Resonances. "Moiety's Mirror" allows for damage reduction and counterattacks, and "Dark Eater" absorbs dark damage to restore HP. Additional bonuses include HP, AP, Strength, and Magic boosts.
