Chromite is a crucial resource in Palworld, primarily serving as the key component for crafting Hexolite. Acquiring sufficient amounts of Chromite is essential for progression, and players have several methods at their disposal to find it.
Utilizing the Metal Detector
The most straightforward method for locating Chromite, short of engaging an Alpha Pal named Smokie, is by using the Metal Detector. This item unlocks at level 56 and functions as an equippable weapon. Once active, it assists players in pinpointing Chromite deposits.
Smokie's Partner Skill
Alternatively, players can obtain a Pal named Smokie. This Pal possesses the 'Dig, Dog! Dig!' partner skill, which allows it to sniff out Chromite. Furthermore, if Smokie is actively accompanying the player, it boosts the amount of Chromite mined. Smokie can be found as an Alpha Pal within the Sealed Realm of the Little Hero.
Pal Expeditions and Other Sources
Certain Pal Expeditions can also yield Chromite as a reward, although this method is considered less reliable. To initiate Pal Expeditions, players must first construct a Pal Expedition Station, which can be unlocked at tier 22 using two Technology Points. The Pal Expeditions that offer a chance to reward Chromite include the Dark Cave of Feybreak (Normal) and the Eternal Pyre's Forbidden Market (Hard).
Additionally, specific Pals can drop Chromite upon defeat. Currently, the Silvegis, a Dragon-type Pal found on Feybreak Island, particularly in the Scorched Hill area, is the only known Pal to drop this resource.

All known Chromite farming locations are situated on Feybreak Island. Players can combine the use of the Metal Detector and Smokie's partner skill with exploration of these areas for maximum efficiency.
