Finding Princess Ruto is a key objective in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, specifically during the 'Spiritual Stone of Water' quest. Her father, King Zora, tasks Link with her retrieval, which involves a journey to Lake Hylia and the acquisition of the Silver Scale.
Locating Princess Ruto
After speaking with King Zora in the southeastern part of Zora Domain, Link learns that Princess Ruto is missing and was last seen heading towards Lake Hylia. To reach Lake Hylia, Link must first find a Zora near the domain's entrance who will reveal the existence of an underwater tunnel. However, Link cannot reach this tunnel without the ability to dive deeper.
Acquiring the Silver Scale
To enable deeper diving, Link must obtain the Silver Scale. This is achieved by speaking with a Zora located at the top of the waterfall in the northwest section of Zora Domain. This Zora will initiate a diving challenge where Link must collect five underwater scales. Upon successful completion, Link will be rewarded with the Silver Scale.
Reaching Lake Hylia and Finding Ruto's Letter
With the Silver Scale, Link can now dive off the ledge and access the underwater tunnel to the west, which leads to Lake Hylia. Upon arrival, Link should look for a blueish glow underwater near the Zora swimming in front of the area's entrance. This glow marks a bottle containing a scroll. Collecting this bottle reveals a letter from Princess Ruto, stating her location inside Lord Jabu-Jabu's belly.
Proceeding to Lord Jabu-Jabu's Belly
After reading the letter, Link must return to Zora Domain and use the bottle in front of King Zora. The King will then open the path to Zora Fountain. From there, Link needs to make an offering to gain access to the Lord Jabu-Jabu's belly dungeon, where he will ultimately rescue Princess Ruto.
