Bramblin and Brambleghast, the Gen 9 haunted tumbleweed Pokémon, made their debut in Pokémon Go during October 2026's Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek event. While their evolution requirement in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is quite specific, it's significantly more straightforward in Pokémon Go.
Catching Bramblin
Players have a few methods to encounter Bramblin. It can appear through the use of Incense, as a reward for the Fall Marathon: Buddy Trek research task "Earn a Candy exploring with your buddy," or via specific ranks in the Go Pass.
The most reliable method is using Incense, as Bramblin is available throughout the entire event period. This can be further enhanced by the Tier 1 Go Pass Major Milestone, which extends Incense duration to two hours, maximizing opportunities for encounters. While the research task and Go Pass provide additional chances for Bramblin and its candy, focusing on Incense is recommended for obtaining the Pokémon itself.
It is advisable to catch at least one Bramblin during the event to fill its Pokédex entry and secure a candidate for evolution. New Pokémon often become scarce outside of their debut events, making early acquisition important.
Evolving Bramblin into Brambleghast
To evolve Bramblin into Brambleghast in Pokémon Go, trainers must meet two conditions: accumulate 50 Bramblin Candy and walk 20 kilometers with Bramblin as their buddy Pokémon. Crucially, the Bramblin designated as the buddy must be the one used for the 20km walk.
It is recommended to catch several Bramblin before committing to the evolution process, allowing players to select the one with the best stats (IVs). To expedite candy collection, players should utilize Pinap Berries when catching Bramblin, doubling the candy earned per catch. Additional Bramblin candy will also be awarded upon completion of the evolution requirement, making the process relatively quick.
Shiny Forms
At the time of this report, shiny versions of Bramblin and Brambleghast are not yet available in Pokémon Go. Future updates are expected to introduce these cosmetic variants. The unreleased shiny Bramblin would feature lighter yellow and orange hues, while shiny Brambleghast would display a lighter brown with more prominent purple accents.
