Moonlight Peaks offers players the chance to pursue romance, leading to marriage and even divorce. To tie the knot, players must reach eight friendship hearts with their chosen partner and witness their eight-heart cutscene. Following this, an invitation to a date can lead to a marriage proposal. Once engaged, a wedding date will be set, which can be viewed on the in-game calendar.
Players can optionally purchase white attire from Third Eye Threads the day after proposing, to be worn on the wedding day. The ceremony occurs first thing on the scheduled date. Upon marriage, the spouse moves into the player's house and unlocks two additional friendship hearts, bringing the total to ten. Any other characters who were being dated will experience a "hurt" status, reducing their friendship hearts to four and making them unwilling to accept gifts. This hurt status appears to be temporary, lasting only a day.
Divorce in Moonlight Peaks is a straightforward process initiated by a character named Llemi. A few days after the wedding, Llemi will visit the player's house to introduce the concept of divorce, describing it as "A clean slate. No bonds, no vows, no lingering what-ifs. A love undone as if it had never been." To proceed with the divorce, players must visit Llemi's house in the Pink Grove, a location accessible after progressing the main story and unlocking Luna Bay.
Upon informing Llemi of the desire to divorce, the player must sleep until the following night. After this, the divorced spouse will return to a "friend" status with four hearts and will not acknowledge the divorce in dialogue, seemingly acting as if the marriage never occurred. However, the player's other relationships remain locked at four friendship hearts after marriage. To pursue a new marriage, significant effort in gifting and dating will be required to raise friendship levels back to eight hearts with a new prospective partner.
