A sealed chest in Final Fantasy Resonance's Nameless Ruins presents a riddle that requires players to progress through the dungeon and interact with several statues in a specific order. The chest is located near a large statue, which initially offers no help.
Upon examination, the chest reveals a riddle: "First, a broken sword pierced the sky, bringing light. Then, a withered horse was laid to rest, becoming the land. Finally, darkness once sealed was unleashed, cleaving day from night." The key to solving this lies in the first nouns of each sentence: sword, horse, and darkness. Three statues scattered throughout the Nameless Ruins represent these concepts, and they must be examined in that precise sequence.
Unlocking the Treasure
The statue next to the chest represents darkness and is not useful initially. The broken sword statue is located near the dungeon's save point, past the Iron Giant and Liquid Flame boss encounters. The withered horse statue can be found on the ground floor, accessible via a staircase on the western side, just beyond the area where the Liquid Flame was fought. After examining both the sword and horse statues, players must return to the dungeon entrance to interact with the darkness statue. This sequence will unlock the chest.
The reward for solving this puzzle is Tyr's Armor, a piece of equipment that offers 159 physical defense and 93 magic defense, though it comes with a -38 speed penalty. This speed reduction can be mitigated through in-game mechanics such as casting Hastega, applying slow effects to enemies, utilizing character-specific skills like Rain's Unity skill, or equipping abilities like Tidus' Haste Opener passive.
