Knowing how to respec your abilities and change weapon forms in Control Resonant is essential for adapting your character to various challenges and correcting any missteps in your upgrade path. While weapon forms can be swapped freely once unlocked, respecing requires specific items and a deliberate process.
Respecing Your Build
To respec in Control Resonant, you will need a Reset Item, which can be acquired by completing certain missions, typically main story objectives, or by purchasing them from vendors. Each Reset Item allows you to respec one of three distinct categories: Aberrant upgrades (including Primary Forms, Secondary Forms, and Combo Finishers), Talents, or Combat Abilities.
To initiate a respec, approach a Gap and navigate to the relevant menu for the category you wish to reset. Once in the desired menu, select the 'Reset All' option. This will allow you to reallocate points and make different choices for that aspect of your build. It is important to distinguish this process from changing weapon forms, which does not require a full build reset.
Changing Weapon Forms
Modifying your weapon form—whether Primary, Secondary, or Combo Finisher—is a more fluid process than respecing and does not necessitate resetting upgrades or Talent Points. First, ensure you have unlocked alternative weapon forms. This is achieved by gathering the necessary crafting materials and visiting a Gap to unlock them via the upgrade tree.
Once unlocked, changing your weapon form is straightforward. Open the main menu and navigate to the 'Loadout' section. Select the weapon form you wish to change, which will open a dedicated menu. Here, you can switch between any unlocked weapon forms, review their stats, and see the progress of their individual upgrades. This flexibility is particularly useful for adapting to different combat scenarios and boss encounters.
While respecing allows for a fundamental rework of your character's progression in terms of Talents, Abilities, and upgrades, changing weapon forms offers tactical flexibility in your primary means of combat.
