The scales puzzle in Silent Hill: Townfall presents a significant challenge within the 'Searching for Zoe' mission, requiring players to decipher cryptic clues and locate specific items. This guide breaks down the process, from finding the pharmacy locker code to correctly arranging items on the scales.
The Scales Puzzle Walkthrough
The scales puzzle is central to the 'Searching for Zoe' quest. It is located at the end of a hallway in the Shorefront Family Clinic, after players navigate the Town Square area and evade monsters. To solve it, three items must be placed on the scales in the correct sequence. Players will already possess Zoe's lanyard, found in a human organ box in Zoe's house. The other two items are acquired from the pharmacy and Jess's house.
Crucially, players must obtain the scalpel from Zoe's desk, found within a green medical box in the same room as the scales puzzle. Before proceeding, it is advisable to unlock the reception door to save progress and listen to the audio clue directing Zoe to the pharmacy.
Opening the Pharmacy Locker
The pharmacy is located in building number 7 on the Town Square map. Although the front door is locked, the scalpel can be used to gain entry. Inside, a locker requires a four-digit code. To obtain this code, players must tune the radio on the desk using the CRTV. This involves a mini-game where players must align two circles on the screen and then fit colorful shapes into corresponding boxes. Successfully completing this CRTV puzzle unlocks a short video displaying four wall posters, each containing a number.
The numbers are presented in the following order on the posters:
- The "wash your hands" poster in the bathroom shows six fingers, indicating the number 6.
- The "5 steps" prescription drugs poster near the desk represents the number 5.
- The blood pressure poster near the pharmacy entrance displays a meter pointing to the number 3.
- The antibiotics poster shows ten pills with one missing, signifying the number 9.
Therefore, the pharmacy locker code is 6539. Inside the locker, players will find a medicine prescription bag with an error note attached, which is the second item needed for the scales puzzle.
Accessing Jess' House
To reach Jess' house, players must traverse St. Amelia Park. The south gate can be opened with the scalpel, and the only exit is a narrow lane to the northwest. It is recommended to save the game at the telephone booth in Farrow Street before proceeding to Jess' house, located opposite apartment building number 14.
Both entrances to Jess' house are locked. However, a note on the back door indicates that Jess has left the key with Walter at apartment number 16, which is directly across the street. Inside Walter's apartment, go upstairs to apartment 1/2. The key is located in the living room on a table near the window.
After retrieving the key, return to Jess' house and use it on the back door. Inside, the broken stethoscope can be found on the bed. This is the third item required for the scales puzzle. Players should then return to the clinic.
Solving the Scales Puzzle
With all three items collected—Zoe's lanyard, the prescription dosage error note, and the broken stethoscope—players must now arrange them correctly on the scales. The solution is hinted at by underlined phrases on the paper next to the scales:
- "I didn't listen closely enough." refers to the broken stethoscope.
- "I made mistakes and couldn't focus on the task at hand." points to the prescription dosage error note.
- "I'm not fit to work in this role any longer." relates to Zoe's lanyard, signifying her clinic job.
Place the items on the scales from left to right in this order: broken stethoscope on the left scale, the prescription dosage error note on the middle scale, and Zoe's lanyard on the right scale. Upon correct placement, a cutscene will initiate, marking the completion of the scales puzzle and the beginning of the "Zoe: Rounds" mission.
