Mortal Shell 2: All Blackmarrow Key Locations and How to Use Them

To customize the appearance of your Shells in Mortal Shell 2, players will need to locate Blackmarrow Keys. These keys become available early in the game as players prepare to leave Marrow Keep. Interacting with sarcophagi in the elevator chamber reveals that each key unlocks a unique skin or color scheme for a Shell. This guide details the locations where five Blackmarrow Keys can be found, with a note that it is not possible to unlock all available skins in a single playthrough.

Blackmarrow Key Map Locations

A map displays the locations of the Blackmarrow Keys throughout Mortal Shell 2. One key is situated in Marrow Keep, two are found in the Fainweald region, and two are located in the Mammon region. Notably, one of these keys is obtained from completing a Corrupted Gate major dungeon.

Location 1: Marrow Keep

A Blackmarrow Key can be discovered within the Desolate Keep, a hidden dungeon accessible near the coffins in Sester Genessa's chamber within Marrow Keep. Players are advised to consult a detailed walkthrough for this area due to its numerous secrets. The player acquires a Blackmarrow Key in Mortal Shell 2 at the end of a corridor in the Desolate Keep.

Location 2: Shrine of Sorrows

The Shrine of Sorrows, a distinctive first-person horror-themed dungeon, also yields a Blackmarrow Key. This location is south of the Mushroom Village in the Fainweald region and is only accessible when Night Mode is active. Upon successfully navigating the dungeon's unsettling environments and puzzles, players will receive a Blackmarrow Key and a Tooth of Nochte. Location 3: Sanguine Caverns

In the Sanguine Caverns, the northernmost Corrupted Gate in Fainweald, another Blackmarrow Key is available. However, this key can only be acquired after defeating the boss known as the Lost Child. After the Lost Child is defeated, enter the Child's Feeding Ground beacon. A small room behind the cluster of Ova contains a chest with the key. Proxima opens a chest containing a Blackmarrow Key in Mortal Shell 2.

Location 4: Abandoned Outpost

An additional Blackmarrow Key can be purchased from The Collector, an NPC found near the Abandoned Outpost beacon in the Mammon region, for 1,500 Coins. Similar to the Shrine of Sorrows, The Collector is only present when Night Mode is active. The player is about to purchase from an NPC known as The Collector in Mortal Shell 2.

Location 5: Abbey Entrance

The Sester's Abbey, located in the eastern part of the Mammon region, houses another Blackmarrow Key. Players should proceed up steps in a field with red spectres, navigating past Stalker and Sester Assassin enemies. While the path leads towards a tower with a trial obelisk, players should instead find a sloping path on the left side of the tower's entrance. This path leads to a lower section where a nook contains the chest with the key. The player looks at a tower, while an arrow points to an area further down below in Mortal Shell 2. The player is right next to a sitting stone, with a dark chamber just beyond in Mortal Shell 2.

How to Use Blackmarrow Keys

Blackmarrow Keys are used in the Marrow Keep elevator chamber. Players can interact with any of the eight sarcophagi present in the room. If a particular Shell has already been acquired, a prompt will appear, allowing the player to use a key to unlock a new cosmetic skin. It is recommended to prioritize unlocking skins for favorite Shells.
