This guide details the process for navigating the Forgotten Tower in Mortal Shell 2, a small but significant area within Mammon that holds the potent Axatana weapon. Acquiring this weapon is a key objective for players seeking to enhance their combat capabilities.
Reaching the Forgotten Tower
The most efficient route to the Forgotten Tower begins at the Barren Crest Beacon in the Silent Steps. Players should cross the bridge adjacent to the beacon, followed by another wooden bridge. Taking a right turn up a slope and then another right will lead to the path towards the tower, requiring players to defeat any Stalkers and Roaming Heads encountered. At the crest of the slope, a Bone Gate will transport the player to the exterior of the Forgotten Tower.
Exploring Below the Tower
Upon arrival, defeating the Sheep directly in front of the player will yield a Sheephead Totem. Players may then choose to rest at the nearby sitting spot by the Bone Gate before entering the tower. Inside the ground floor, notes can be found; one offers lore, while another hints at a 'Nighttime secret' that requires items not yet acquired. The primary objective in this room is to descend the staircase located below the tower. At the bottom, a left turn reveals a Revered Gland.
Completing the Bridge
Exiting the tower through the rear passage, players will find a Bone Gate to the left leading to an unexplored region, which should be ignored for now. To the right, a Weltcap can be looted behind a tree before proceeding up a set of steps. At the top of the initial stairs, take the left path adjacent to the next set. After reading a note on the ground, players should aim at a large bell and shoot it with their Sidearm. This action will repair a broken bridge further up the path, allowing passage to the other side of the tower.
Acquiring the Axatana
After crossing the completed bridge, a Glimpse can be collected from the left edge towards the end. The platform at the far end contains a chest holding a Muradean Tome. Returning across the bridge, descending the stairs, and re-entering the starting room allows access to the doorway marked with the 'Nighttime secret' plaque. Ascending these steps leads to a wall-mounted map detailing three unique Glands needed for the secret: the Depleted Gland (from Withered Shoals), the Faded Gland (from Faded Citadel), and a third yet to be obtained. Continuing through a gap in the wall at the top of these steps and dropping down leads to a Bone Gate, which opens a path to the exterior on the opposite side of the Forgotten Tower. Near the nearest tree, another Weltcap can be found. Approaching the central gate of the tower and pressing the stone button to its left will open it. Inside, players will face a single Gloom Seeker. Defeating this enemy allows the player to loot the Axatana from the ledge behind it. The Axatana is widely considered one of the best weapons in Mortal Shell 2, praised for its versatile combo potential between fast light attacks and powerful heavy swings, making it an excellent choice for endgame content.
