As players progress through the challenges of Mortal Shell 2, accumulating Gloom, the game's primary currency, is essential for character progression. Similar to souls in other Soulslike titles, Gloom is used to enhance capabilities but is lost upon death. This guide outlines several methods for efficiently farming Gloom.
Gloombound Stone
Equipping the Gloombound Stone, found in a chest within the Stones of Remembrance, significantly boosts Gloom drops from slain enemies. Its effectiveness increases with use, offering up to a 40% increase in Gloom at its highest level. This item should be kept equipped to maximize Gloom farming.
Farming Locations
Several areas are particularly effective for Gloom farming. The Flooded Village, located north of the Widow’s Overlook beacon, is populated with numerous weak enemies. Utilizing the shell Tiel and its Plague Bearer perk, which grants poison immunity and health regeneration from poison, makes this area a safe and efficient farming spot. The area also contains a Grisha and the Forgotten Crossbow.
The Mushroom Village Gate beacon provides access to the Giant Roach enemy. Defeating this foe yields over 2,800 Gloom, and resetting at the nearby beacon allows for repeated encounters. This method is effective for rapid Gloom acquisition, especially with upgraded shells and weapons.
Trading and Hidden Treasure
The Nightfish, an NPC situated in a cavern near the Outskirts of Nochte beacon, offers a valuable service: converting Coins into Gloom at a 2:1 ratio. This is particularly useful for players who have accumulated excess Coins from selling unwanted items.
The Hidden Nave
A highly lucrative method involves exploring The Hidden Nave, a beacon within the game's final dungeon. Before entering, it's crucial to spend most of your accumulated Gloom on upgrades. After navigating a specific path involving a torch and a looping tunnel, players will find a chamber with numerous chests and tendrils. Upon interacting with the chamber's doorway, all remaining Gloom will be offered. Subsequently, opening the chests and farming the tendrils can yield over 60,000 Gloom. Since the door has already been opened, the amassed Gloom is retained.
