In Mortal Shell 2, players have the opportunity to free a caged creature known as the Grisha Pup. This guide details the location of the pup, the steps required to free it, and the benefits players receive upon its release.
Grisha Pup Location
The Grisha Pup can be found within the Mushroom Village, located in the Fainweald region and situated near the Widow's Overlook beacon. To reach it, find the entrance to the Mushroom Village to the left of the graveyard containing the Tiel Shell. After passing through the village gates and the dancing Hags, proceed up the main path to the village's beacon. Rest at the beacon, then turn left and follow the path towards a small encampment occupied by Grisha Hunters.
Obtaining the Cage Key
To free the Grisha Pup, players must purchase the Cage Key from a merchant found at the Grisha Hunters' encampment. The key costs 250 Coins. If players lack the necessary funds, two methods are suggested: completing Gorf's questline to acquire Marsh Pearls that can be sold, or crossing the rope bridge to the right of the Mushroom Village beacon, where a chest containing 1,000 Coins is located on the cliffside.
It is advised to purchase all necessary items from the hunter merchant before freeing the Grisha Pup, as certain events will render his inventory inaccessible thereafter.
Rewards for Liberation
After freeing the Grisha Pup and resting at a nearby beacon, its mother will appear in the area. While the hunter NPCs at the camp will perish, the larger creature will not be hostile to the player if the pup has been freed. The area around the encampment will yield several useful items, including Weltcaps, Ventrium for gear upgrades, and a Glimpse, which can be used to enhance a Shell's bond.
