Coralum ore is a crucial crafting material in Palworld, primarily used in the late stages of the game for high-level items. This red ore is necessary for crafting coralum ingots, which are used to create level 62 items such as the energy shotgun and vital structures like the ancient furnace. Unlike common ores, coralum ore cannot be mined from rocks; it is found exclusively in the ocean or dropped by specific Pals.
Salvaging Debris
One method to acquire coralum ore is by salvaging debris found at sea. This process is generally quicker than other methods if you are actively searching. You will need to ride a water Pal and equip a fishing rod, with the advanced fishing rod unlocked at level 45 being the most effective. For debris located in high-level areas, such as those near the Isle of the Glacial Core, it is advisable to use powerful fishing magnets, unlocked at technology level 62. While debris in lower-level zones can yield coralum ore, the drop rate appears to be lower than in higher-level zones that necessitate the use of powerful fishing magnets.
Salvaging debris involves a minigame where players must press a specific button at the correct moment. Failure to complete the minigame does not cause the salvage point to disappear or consume the fishing magnet, allowing for repeated attempts. Salvageable debris can be found along coastlines and even in the open ocean.
Breeding Whalaskas
Alternatively, coralum ore can be obtained from hunting Whalaskas (Pal #150). For a more consistent and large-scale supply, breeding Whalaskas is recommended. These Pals can be found on the Isle of the Glacial Core, located in the northern part of the map.
To initiate breeding, players need to place a male and a female Whalaska in a breeding farm along with cake. Once eggs appear, they can be hatched using a large incubator, providing a steady source of Whalaskas. Following this, players can construct a Pal disassembly conveyor, unlocked at level 56. Placing Whalaskas into this machine will break them down, yielding materials including at least one coralum ore per Pal processed.
Neptilius also drops coralum ore and can be encountered as an Alpha Pal on the same island. However, Whalaskas are generally considered easier to hunt and collect for breeding purposes.
