Phantom Blade Zero features several side quests that require players to locate specific items or explore hidden areas. Among these are the quest for the Flesh Lily for Yu'er and the collection of ribbons scattered throughout the Village of Lu. Successfully completing these tasks can reward players with powerful items and deepen their understanding of the game's narrative.
Locating the Flesh Lily
The Flesh Lily is a crucial item for the first part of Yu'er's side quest. This quest begins early in the game when players first encounter Yu'er. She explains that she needs the rare flower to prepare medicine for her father. The first step of this quest involves obtaining the Twin Flesh Lilies, which are acquired after defeating the optional boss Hua, Deadly Betrothed, in the Weeping Creek Valley.
To access Hua, players must progress through the main story until they reach the Valley Sha-Chi Tower, specifically during the "Steel and Steam" main quest. From the Valley Sha-Chi Tower 1st Floor bell, players should enter the building and defeat the enemies within. After clearing the initial foes, proceed to the back of the room and drop down a hole. Following the path down leads to a field of red lilies where the fight against Hua commences.
Hua, Deadly Betrothed, is a swift opponent known for teleporting and launching paralyzing projectiles. After defeating her, players will receive the Scarlet Wraithblade. The Twin Flesh Lilies can then be collected from a corpse near the altar where Hua was encountered. Returning to the Outpost and speaking with Yu'er near Forge will complete this initial stage of the quest.
The "Young Mistress" Side Quest and Ribbon Collection
Another significant side activity involves finding five ribbons left by Mu Xiaokui in the Village of Lu. This quest, titled "Young Mistress," is automatically initiated upon reaching the village. Collecting these ribbons not only reveals more about Mu Xiaokui's bond with Soul but also enhances the challenge of the area's final boss fight, rewarding players with the Fiend Saws swords upon defeating the modified boss.
Players must collect all five ribbons before engaging in the final boss battle of the Village of Lu. If players reach the Puppet Testing Grounds without securing all ribbons, they must backtrack to find any missing ones.
Ribbon Locations in Village of Lu
- Ribbon 1: Located near the bridge leading to the Well of the Three Puppets, tied to a tree. This is found after defeating Zhuo Bi, the Gatekeeper, by ascending stairs and proceeding around the right side of the tower.
- Ribbon 2: Found on a covered bridge near the Well of the Three Puppets. To access this bridge, players must first defeat the Puppet Spearman located in an upright coffin within a lake area. This requires sliding down a path from the Zhang's Hideout bell, heading towards a building with an altar, and breaking a gate.
- Ribbon 3: This ribbon is tied to the The Lady Grounds bell, which appears after defeating the Master Bi Yuan of the Tianxuan Sect boss in the arena beyond the Statue Grounds Entrance bell.
- Ribbon 4: Situated to the left of the Temple of Blue Fireflies' entrance, tied to a tree. Players can reach this by taking a bridge beside a locked door near the Well of the Three Puppets.
- Ribbon 5: Accessible only after unlocking the Well of the Three Puppets. Descend into the well and follow the path to the Beneath the Well bell. The ribbon is located at the beginning of a wooden bridge to the left of the bell.
