A locked cell door presents an early obstacle in Phantom Blade Zero, located just outside the Baishan Outpost in Weeping Creek Valley. This guide details the precise path to acquire the Cell Key and access the rewards within.
The Cell Key is a crucial item for progressing early in Phantom Blade Zero. After clearing enemies near the Outpost Courtyard Bell, players will encounter a locked cell door built into a cave wall to the left of the Baishan Outpost entrance. Without the Cell Key, this door remains impassable, preventing access to the treasure it guards.
Locating the Cell Key
The Cell Key is hidden within the Outpost itself. To gain entry, players must speak with two guards positioned to the right of the Outpost entrance. Once inside, proceed through the Outpost until you reach the Outpost Bell, located in the same area as the blacksmith, Forge.
From the Outpost Bell, ascend the stairs and turn right just before a glowing red shrine. Continuing past this shrine leads to a major boss encounter, so it is vital to make the correct turn. Follow this path upwards until you reach a hut.
Proceed around the right side of the hut along the wooden walkway. This path leads to a clearing behind the structure where the Cell Key can be found as a gold pickup in the center.
Exploring the Hut and Its Surroundings
Before returning to the locked cell, players can explore the hut for additional items. Breaking crates to the left of the hut's entrance may reveal 2x Exotic Copper Ingots. Inside the hut, 2x Forged Metal can be found on the floor. Additionally, a small room to the left of the Cell Key pickup contains 381x Remnant Dust.
The Reward Behind the Cell Door
Once the Cell Key is in possession, return to the locked cell near the Outpost entrance. Interacting with the door will now allow it to be opened, revealing a single reward on the ground: a Blackstone Fragment.
Blackstone Fragments are essential collectibles in Phantom Blade Zero. Accumulating four Fragments automatically crafts a whole Blackstone, which permanently increases Attack Power and Guard Break by 10% each, while also unlocking new skills in Soul's progression tree.
With the Cell Key's objective complete, players can proceed back to the Outpost Bell and continue their journey, likely towards the Axemaster boss encounter that lies beyond the red shrine.
