In Phantom Blade Zero, the Outpost cell key serves as a secondary objective that rewards thorough exploration. Players will encounter several locked doors throughout the game, with some progression tied to the main story. However, an early opportunity to open a locked door in the Outpost Courtyard can be seized by knowing where to look.
Locating the Outpost Cell Key
As players navigate the initial areas of the Weeping Creek Valley, they will arrive at the Outpost Courtyard, which has been converted into a small enemy camp. After clearing the area of enemies, players should approach the Baishan Disciples situated to the right of a locked gate. Before interacting with them, a short path leading down to a locked cell can be found by checking to the left of the gate.
To obtain the cell key, progress through the story until the Outpost becomes accessible. Follow the main path until you locate the Outpost bell near Forge, the smith. From the bell, ascend the nearby stairs, pass through a small gate, and continue up the next set of stairs. At the top, turn right and follow the winding path upwards towards a house. The key is located along the path to the right of this house.
This route leads to another house. In front of it, players will find two corpses with an orange-glowing orb nearby. Interacting with this orb will grant the cell key.
Reward for Opening the Cell
Once the key is acquired, return to the Outpost bell and use it to fast travel to the Outpost Courtyard bell. Alternatively, players can backtrack to the courtyard. Upon reaching the locked door before the large gate, use the cell key to open it and collect a blackstone fragment. Accumulating four such fragments yields a blackstone, which permanently increases the player character Soul's attack and guard break by 10%.
