The Witcher 3: A Guide to Four Novigrad Side Quests

The world of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is teeming with challenging contracts that offer players a chance to earn coin and unique trophies. This guide breaks down four such quests available in the Novigrad region: 'Lord of the Wood,' 'The White Lady,' 'Doors Slamming Shut,' and 'Deadly Delights.'

Lord of the Wood Walkthrough

To begin the 'Lord of the Wood' contract, players must find a notice on the Cunny of the Goose Inn's noticeboard titled 'Devil in the Woods.' After speaking with Brean Hotsch, who posted the notice, and a dwarf at the inn for further information, Geralt must head west and north into the surrounding woods. Using Witcher Senses, players can follow tracks from abandoned carts, leading to the discovery of three dead dwarves. The trail ultimately points towards the beast responsible: Kernun, the Lord of the Wood.

To confront Kernun, players need to locate and destroy four marked totems in the area. When a bone is found near an oak tree, the Aard Sign can be used to bring the totem down. During the fight with Kernun, Dimeritium Bombs, Relict Oil applied to blades, and the Igni Sign are highly effective. Upon defeating the creature, players should collect its remains and the trophy skull before returning to Brean Hotsch at the inn to claim their reward.

The White Lady Walkthrough

The 'White Lady' contract can be initiated by checking a noticeboard south of Novigrad's walls, near the Portside and Glory Gates. This quest involves investigating a wraith tormenting local peasants and preventing them from harvesting their crops. After speaking with Helma in the village, who recounts the deaths of Mico and his companions, Geralt must travel to the stone tower south of the village.

Within the orchard, players should use Witcher Senses near a campfire to examine corpses and bottles. Following the subsequent footprints leads to the Ruins of Dragim Castle. In the castle's basement, after finding another corpse and learning about ghouls, Geralt must return to Helma to obtain a silver dagger, an object belonging to the noonwraith, Luzi. With the dagger, Geralt returns to the corpse pile by the fire and places the dagger on it to summon Luzi. The noonwraith is vulnerable to Moon Dust bombs, Spectre Oil, the Yrden Sign, and Dimeritium Bombs. Looting the remains and collecting the trophy is required to complete the quest by returning to Helma.

Doors Slamming Shut Walkthrough

For the 'Doors Slamming Shut' contract, players should examine a note titled 'Haunted House' on the Hierarch Square noticeboard in Novigrad. This leads to an interaction with Count Kurt Dysart at the Kingfisher Inn, who has purchased a property plagued by strange occurrences. After discussing the issue with the Count, Geralt must travel to the Moldavie Residence, located east of the city near a lake.

Inside the residence, Witcher Senses can be used to investigate clues such as food on the floor and a goblet on a table. Further investigation downstairs reveals a crack in the wall that can be opened with Aard, leading to basement ruins. After finding a journal and activating a lever near water, a path opens to the creature's lair. The Earth Elemental, Therazane, is encountered and must be released by using the Aard Sign on its lock. Therazane is vulnerable to Elementa Oil and Dimeritium Bombs. Upon its defeat, the trophy should be collected and presented to Kurt Dysart at the Kingfisher Inn for the reward.

Deadly Delights Walkthrough

Players can pick up the 'Deadly Delights' contract from Sergeant Gilbert Witschke's notice at Hierarch Square. The contract details the deaths of several officers and tasks Geralt with finding the responsible party, identified as a succubus named Lilith. Geralt first speaks with Sergeant Witschke, then with a medic at the docks to gather information about the victims.

The investigation leads Geralt south through the docks and across a canal to a market area. Using Witcher Senses, players must follow a trail of child's and hoofprints north to Crippled Kate's brothel. After confronting the brothel madame and potentially using Axii to extract information, Geralt must find a dropped perfume bottle and follow the scent to a civilian who claims to have been attacked by a succubus.

The trail leads to a building where Lilith is located upstairs. After a conversation, players can choose to either demand she leaves, which yields a trophy and a sword, or fight her. Lilith is weak to Hybrid Oil, and the Quen Sign is particularly useful during the encounter. The contract is completed by returning to Sergeant Witschke to report the outcome and receive the reward.
