To complete the "Homesick" quest in Valor Mortis, players must investigate the disappearance of a father. This side quest is found in Chapter 4 and involves exploring a hidden cave section within The Caverns.
Starting the "Homesick" Quest
The "Homesick" quest begins shortly after defeating The Iron Marshall and returning to the Abandoned Church. Upon entering a new area called The Caverns, players will find a ghost near the first tunnel behind the Last Sunlight Lantern and campfire. By listening to the ghost and picking up the "Longing Wife Letter" she leaves behind, the quest will be initiated.

The objective is to discover the reason for the father's failure to reunite with his family.
Completing the "Homesick" Quest
The quest item is located at the end of an optional cave. Players will first enter a large cave chamber populated by zombie farmers and an elite enemy near a campfire. A key danger in this area is a poison-spitting enemy positioned on the ceiling.
Players should navigate through the cave, avoiding most of the holes in the ground. The correct path involves dropping into the final gap in the far-left corner, identifiable by torchlight at the bottom.

Upon reaching the underground quay, players must defeat the enemies around the boats. A grappling point should be avoided, as it is a trap. Instead, climb the ledge to the right. A red explosive barrel can be used to eliminate nearby minor enemies, followed by sniping the remaining foes.
When encountering the Risen Grenadier, it is advisable to wait for it to position itself beneath a glowing orb on the ceiling. Shooting the orb will crush the Grenadier. The "Death Notice" can then be found by looting the boat situated behind him. A treasure chest in this area also contains the "Lucky Shot" amber.

After obtaining the necessary items, return to the campfire where the ghosts were initially encountered. Reading the "Death Notice" aloud will complete the "Homesick" side quest. The rewards for completion include 2,000 catalysts and the "Bottomless Well" amber.
