Fast travel is not immediately available in Valor Mortis, which can make navigating the early game and returning to previous areas a challenge. The mechanic unlocks after a significant progression point, allowing players to quickly move between discovered Lanterns.
Unlocking Fast Travel
To unlock fast travel, players must first defeat the game's initial boss, General Lothaire, The Eagle Bearer, located outside the Abandoned Church. After defeating him, entering the Church and completing the subsequent dialogue with the character James will enable the fast travel option. Once reunited with James and the dialogue concludes, interacting with the Lantern within the Abandoned Church will present the option to 'fast travel.'
This system becomes available at the start of Chapter 3: Rendezvous. From this point onwards, players can access a menu displaying all previously encountered regions and their respective Lanterns, enabling quick travel between them. The Abandoned Church also serves as a permanent hub accessible through this menu.
As players discover and rekindle new Lanterns throughout their journey, these locations will be automatically added to the fast travel menu. It is also recommended to revisit earlier areas once new traversal abilities, such as the Grapple or Shield Transmutation, have been acquired, as these can unlock previously inaccessible paths and secrets.
