AOC is entering the 1,000 Hz gaming monitor arena with its new AGON PRO AGP257FT display. This monitor joins a growing trend of ultra-high refresh rate panels, but AOC emphasizes its claimed 0.1 ms pixel response time as a key differentiator.
Co-developed with Chinese display specialist BOE, the AGP257FT utilizes a new oxide-based IPS panel. This differs from LG's 1,000 Hz monitor, which uses a different panel. The AOC monitor can be overclocked to 1,050 Hz, while the LG model reaches up to 1,100 Hz in its overclocked state.
Like its competitor, the AGP257FT features a 25-inch, 1080p IPS display and HDR 400 certification, which means it does not include local dimming. While the LG monitor is rated at 1 ms pixel response, AOC claims a peak response time of 0.1 ms for MPRT and a still-impressive 0.3 ms for grey-to-grey transitions. This faster response time has the potential to offer superior motion clarity compared to other high-refresh-rate IPS panels.
The AOC AGON PRO AGP257FT is slated for release in the first quarter of 2027, with pricing yet to be announced. This release continues the rapid advancement in display technology aimed at competitive esports players, pushing refresh rates to new theoretical limits.
