New Xbox Elite Controller Leaks With Major Upgrades

A new Xbox Elite controller, potentially the Elite Series 3, has been detailed in leaks originating from Xbox's backend servers, suggesting significant enhancements over its predecessor. The upcoming hardware is expected to incorporate advanced haptic feedback, including Impulse Triggers that translate electrical signals into physical sensations and trigger-specific vibrations.

Enhanced Customization and Performance

The leaked specifications also point to a focus on fine-tuning player experience. The swappable joysticks may include a new "silent stick" option and upgraded Hall-effect modules designed to minimize stick drift. These modules are described as having options for standard, loose, and tight resistance. An additional joystick possibility, dubbed "TMR," is mentioned, promising higher resolution movement with lower power consumption.

The controller is slated to offer a wider array of paddle designs beyond the standard offerings, with possibilities including double-wide paddles and configurations that alter the function of the backside buttons. The D-pad is also set to receive attention, with rumors of grippier alternatives and add-ons for both cosmetic and performance customization. Furthermore, players may be able to change the controller's faceplate, with options for different colors, metal finishes, and engravings.

For audiophiles, the new controller is said to feature a setting called "audio scroll wheel color." While these details have not been officially confirmed by Xbox, the leak suggests a significant step forward in controller technology and customization for Xbox users.

Addressing Quality Concerns

Some Xbox fans have expressed that while the Elite Series 2 controller offers desirable functionality, its quality control has been inconsistent, with reports of peripherals failing sooner than expected. A new iteration could provide Xbox with an opportunity to improve both the accessory's features and its overall reliability. Pricing details are not yet available, but given the Elite Series 2's manufacturer's suggested retail price of $199.99, the new model is anticipated to be in a similar, if not higher, price bracket.
