Philips has announced the Evnia 36M4C5500P, a 36-inch ultrawide gaming monitor that the company claims is the first of its kind with a 260Hz refresh rate. This release comes at a time when the PC hardware market has been characterized by rising prices and a general sense of market flux.
The new display features a 1500R curved VA panel with a resolution of 3440 x 1440. Its overclockable 260Hz refresh rate is positioned to appeal to both casual and competitive gamers. While VA panel technology and curved ultrawide designs are not new, the 36-inch size occupies a space between the more common 34-inch ultrawides and larger 39-inch-and-up models.
Regarding other specifications, the monitor boasts Display HDR400 certification, dual HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 connectivity, and a tilting stand. Pricing information has not yet been released, but the company hopes these specifications might allow for a more accessible price point in the market.
The Philips Evnia 36M4C5500P also includes what the company describes as "AI-enhanced gaming features," such as Shadow Boost, Smart Crosshair, Smart Sniper, and Smart MBR sync. These features are presented as additions that may complement the gaming experience.
The introduction of a new gaming monitor with a focus on core specifications and size could offer a welcome option for consumers looking to upgrade their setups without significant financial strain, especially considering the current availability and pricing trends for other PC hardware components.
